How long did it actually take you to write this book?
I actually started writing it in 2023, then put it on hold for a while before finally finishing it this year. It’s definitely been years in the making, and I’m so happy to finally share it with everyone!
What inspired you to write this story?
Writing has always been a way for me to heal. This story came from a deeply personal place, and I felt compelled to put it into words. It’s a story that I believe hasn’t been told before—or seen on screen—and I was eager to share it with others. My hope is that readers will not only enjoy the journey but also connect with its themes of love, resilience, loyalty, and second chances.
Which character was the most fun to write—and why?
I honestly loved writing both Elena and Gabriel because the entire story revolves around them. Watching their journey unfold, seeing them grow individually and together, and exploring the challenges they faced made them incredibly rewarding to write. Their relationship is the heart of the story, and bringing their emotions, struggles, and love to life was one of my favourite parts of the writing process.
What’s your writing routine? Morning, night, or whenever inspiration strikes?
I love writing without interruptions, so most of my writing happens at night when my family is asleep. Those quiet hours give me the uninterrupted time I need to fully immerse myself in the story. It’s my favourite time to write because I can focus completely, let my creativity flow, and bring the characters to life without distractions.
What was the hardest part of writing the book?
Without a doubt, it was finding the time to write. Between work, family, and everyday life, I had to be intentional about carving out time for the book. It also meant putting my social life on hold for a while. It was a sacrifice, but one I don’t regret. Seeing the finished book in readers’ hands has made every late night and missed outing completely worth it.
Did the ending change from what you originally planned?
Not quite. The story was unfolding as real life unfolded, so in many ways, the ending revealed itself along the journey. Rather than changing the ending, I followed where the story—and life—led. That made the writing process incredibly personal and authentic, and I hope readers can feel that in the pages.
If your book became a movie, who would you love to see play the main characters?
Perhaps Cillian Murphy AND Kerry Condon
What’s one thing you hope readers take away after finishing the book?
More than anything, I hope readers come away believing that some things are always worth fighting for. Fight for what you love, stay loyal to the people who matter most, and never give up on true love. Life doesn’t always follow the path we expect, but sometimes the most beautiful endings come from second chances. I hope this story reminds readers to keep believing in love, hope, and the courage to never stop fighting for what truly matters.
